In October of 2014, Sitzler were awarded a contract for the upgrade of Angalarri River Crossing, located within Bradshaw Field Training Area near Timber Creek. The project aims to resolve ongoing flood damage and drainage issues at the existing 1.5km long river crossing by reconstructing the road profile, providing a new major culvert structure and upgrading of associated protection works.
As part of the contract works Sitzler installed 600m3 of new concrete margins, reconstruct and cement stabilise the floodway pavement and place over 3000m3 of dumped rock protection.
To avoid issues associated with the ‘wet season’ and minimise environmental impacts on site, the project will be completed in two stages. The new culvert structure was completed in late 2014 with remaining earthworks to be finalised at the commencement of the ‘dry’ ahead of major Defence exercises planned for June and July 2015.
