Sitzler were awarded the contract to provide a new single 15m span pre-stressed concrete composite bridge over the Leviathan Creek. This structure replaced a low-level crossing that was prone to flooding following large storm events. This was the penultimate crossing to be upgraded to allow year-round access between Darwin and Dundee Beach. The two-lane bridge and associated roadworks (1.1km of sealed road) were constructed offline to the existing crossing with minimal disruption to the public during the construction.
Due to some discrepancies with the original survey, additional works were required to ensure the bridge and associated protection works matched the topography. There was also substantial works required in dealing with unsuitable ground. These additional works were completed with minimal impact on the original completion date.
